TIPPER TIE’s rich history
TIPPER TIE got its start in 1952 with Maynard Tipper’s breakthrough idea: the first successful labor-saving clip and tying machine for casings. Named after Maynard, the company’s first product was the Tipper Casing Tyer, followed a few years later by a “second-tie” machine that replaced the slow, manual job of hand-tying filled casings at the stuffing table. Being able to mechanically clip and close both ends of a meat casing changed the game for processors.
From there, TIPPER TIE kept pushing clipping technology forward. The Tipper Clipper and the industry’s first U-clip improved package integrity by tightly gathering material during clipping, and the company even began producing its own wire to meet higher quality standards. By the mid-1970s, TIPPER TIE had introduced a fully automatic rotary packaging machine that positioned and clipped vacuum-packed bags with a dedicated Tipper Clipper, turning clipping into a fully integrated part of the production line.
