The innovative JBT Marel IceDoser is a machine that automatically weighs and dispenses precise quantities of flake ice into boxes of fresh salmon, keeping excess weight to a minimum and ensuring consistent coverage. Such precision significantly reduces transportation costs, particularly when airfreight is involved.

Boxes containing whole salmon or fillets proceed to automatic check weighing and labeling. The IceDoser then automatically dispenses the ice based on the specific weight and shipping information found on the label of each box. Finally, a lid is applied and the box is strapped before palletizing.

The quantity of ice is monitored by a sensor that automatically transmits a request for more ice when the supply has dropped below a predetermined level. This ensures the availability of a ready supply and maintains the system's capacity at up to 16 doses per minute.
