Spray Water Scalding System

In the JBT Marel Spray Water Scalding system, pigs are intensively and hygienically scalded. During the scalding process, the carcasses are constantly sprayed with warm water. The head is extra intensively scalded through continuous immersion in water, without scalding water penetrating the lungs and chest cavity.

The scalding system consists of a compartmented stainless steel bottom tray with a tunnel structure of insulated stainless steel panels. Per compartment, pumps provide the water supply to the spray pipes. Each compartment is equipped with a temperature and level control. The separate compartments reduce the contamination of the scalding water, resulting in better hygiene standards
